WASEND is an organization which provides education about disaster risk reduction to children. Our principle is
"To protect the lives of children in the future and at the same time to reduce the human suffering caused by natural disasters which occured frequently in recent years"
The name WASEND comes from the acronym
Waseda
Student Organisation for the
Education of
Natural
Disaster
Wasend activities are not only limited to Japan, but are also international, with activities also being conducted within the Philippines and Indonesia.
Our goal is not only to plan activities, fair events and produce picture books on distaster management, but also to spread awareness of the important of proper disaster management to a wider audience.
Wasend consists of Civil and Enviromental engineering students within Waseda University. As we learn about disatser management within our lectures and classes, and potentially utilise our knowledge within our future careers, Wasend aims to do our best.
And to achieve this policy, there are 2 methods that we carry out:.
○Disaster prevention education for children
From an early age, we aim to raise the importance of disaster prevention for children.
○ Effective and practical education
By providing our education with not only theoretical but also experiential, we aim for a better disaster prevention education method.
